After being in and out of Brigham and Women's hospital 3 times this past week, the doctors have finally discovered that I indeed have a severe case of mono. This couldn't come at a more inopportune time. This is my last two weeks of senior year, so I am missing out on lots of parties, barbeques, hanging out, and most importantly and inconveneintly for many of you, I'm messing up the shooting dates of RESLIFE. But I guess these issues come up in "show biz" all the time. It is just taking a lot of coordination for us to reschedule these shoots and it doesn't feel good to be the cause of all of it. I miss you guys, too! I want to be back on set and hanging out with everyone. I think I'm missing the cast party too, which is a bummer. I'm making baby steps towards recovery though. The incessant nausea is gone, so are the puffy eyes and the fever. Now I'm just battling a severely swollen throat and glands that make it difficult to talk and also extreme fatique and weakness. Lots of water and rest and tv and reading and more rest and all the steroids they put me on and I should hopefully be back by mid-next week. fingers crossed! I hope all the other shoots have been going well. I hear the simulations were a lot of fun:) Looking forward to seeing you all again when I get better. And god help me, i WILL get better. I HATE MONO.

xx
Marie

shoe-slapped (new form of b-slapped)

I finished my last scene over the past weekend, which was a pretty realistic combat scene. At one point my character Leah is attacked by Ellen who throws a shoe at her. In the actual script there is no mention of a real collision of the shoe on my face, however the circumstances ended up a little different to my suprise. Indeed there I was being accused of my slut magic ways by Ellen, and then wham, right on the cheek, the shoe had met its target. Leah got it good! At first, no one really said anything except the 1st A.D. Sara who gasped. Everyone else held their breath to see if I would go with it. Unfortunately, it was too sudden and jarring for me to stay in character, otherwise it would have worked!

Now that I'm wrapped from filming and May has arrived, I find that I miss being on set and seeing all the ResLifers (yes I am very sentimental about these things, especially since I'm graduating so bare with me) Despute the long hours, the amount of resetting , and redirection, I still loved acting for this pilot! It was a great time working with such talented people. I hope that no matter where we all end up in the next few months, we manage to stay in touch. Hopefully I'll end up in Los Angeles after graduation and get to see those of you who are venturing out there.

Remember....ResLife for LIFE! Now I can say I was an RA in college and that I had the superpower of slut magic.

Lindsay

Shooting Recap

So, we've shot a bunch of scenes already, and I think its going pretty well. I definitely would say that the Rich Hall entrance scene was the most complicated, if only because of the constant in and out of random students. Pshh, who did they think they were, trying to get in to where they live?! Anyway, my spine almost collapsed several times from all those bags, but we did get the shots we needed.

The meeting room scene was fun to shoot, doing the between the legs talking thing, and trying hard not to play with all the stretchy balloons on the floor.

The Shelton Hall scenes have been my favorite so far, though I think. Major props to the art department for keeping it interesting and/or ridiculous with all the posters and stuff (Chris, the Skeleton board thing was pretty hilarious). So between spilling beer in some guys room, painfully having to teach Danielle how to smoke and bringing a stripper in, I'd say it's a good thing there were no real RA's around where we were filming! On the serious side, though, I think we got some really good shots, and that the scenes have been going pretty well.

It's really interesting when I watch TV now, though. I keep seeing the shows from different angles and wondering how many different takes certain shots take. You kind of take for granted some of the really long takes some shows do, especially if there is a lot of moving around. I've got a new respect for the continuity people who have to make sure EVERYTHING is where/what it should be.

Well, we are all hoping Marie gets better as we move closer to the end of filming, and that everything continues to go well!

-Dan

Booze, Strippers and more!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_wTNtQu60aas/RjaNkRNly4I/AAAAAAAAAEw/DSCYwx9xmGc/s320/041407ResLife209.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5059386885632543618" />
Hey Hey,

Things have been hard without a blog from trusty Jeff in the past few weeks I know...but fear not, I have returned. Shooting is going well, very well in fact...much of my time last week was spent cradling 8 ice cold beers take after take until I could no longer feel my arms (and not one beer was opened or consumed...except for the one I dropped that exploded all over the floor of an unamed person's dorm room...oops). Schedules are getting a bit hectic with Marie being MIA...she says she has mono, but I think that she may be faking...I think she is actually is a rodeo clown on the side and doesn't want anyone to know, and thats why she can't make the shooting days...my theory anyways. Anyways, let the good times continue on set, and no one make any plans for May 15th for christsakes or Pat, Elyse and Sara will all simultaneously beat you mercilessly.

Open bar at the wrap party,

Tim

Day One of Shooting...DONE.

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp3.blogger.com/_wTNtQu60aas/RiTkPHtNKcI/AAAAAAAAADI/zxhL6zzaUWM/s320/032507ResLife074.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5054415630234364354" />
Hi, I'm Marie. I'm a senior acting major in the CFA at BU, and I play the part of Katelyn in Res. Life. I just got back from day one of shooting and I am EXHAUSTED. (As I'm sure we ALL are...my day went from 730am-6pm, but the crew was there earlier and stayed later!). I was so impressed with the size of the crew and with how specific each person's job is. They were such a team, and I was very happy to be a part of it. My training has been in theatre, so I am not used to being on a film set. I am very curious about each person's job, the "lingo" used during filming, and basically all of the steps involved in the process of film making.

Today I was very aware of the differences between acting on camera and acting onstage. I didn't realize how much time is needed to do such a short scene! There are so many different angles to capture and details to keep consistent. I have a responsibility to hit my mark, keep my hands in the same position each time we reset, and to stay quiet when the director says "cut" so that more can get accomplished. Play preparation and film preparation are both tedious, intense and rewarding. But in different ways. A lot of the day on set for a film (for an actor, anyway) is waiting, being patient, and repeating lines over and over and over again. It is tedious in a different way than theatre rehearsals, which are tedious because they are almost always physically and emotionally gruelling and because they are full of experimentation and exploration of the text. The rehearsal process for a play feels much longer and the rehearsals usually happen in a rehearsal room that is different from the "location" of performance (ie: the stage). However, with film the location is crucial...so most of the rehearsals happen there, on the day of the shoot. We get there, rehearse quickly and then immediately "perform." There is something nice about the repetition in film making because it gives me many opportunities to play with the scene, to find new things, to "perfect" it, in a sense.

Today was long, but being in the same room with the actors in crew for 10 hours means that bonding happens quickly. I feel like I'm getting closer to people as we learn how to work together. Basically, today was full of new experiences and I am learning how to apply what I know about theatre to this new experience with film. Meeting new people has been great and I'm enjoying it all so far.

I should go to bed soon because tomorrow is another LONG day of shooting. That's all for now. Thanks to everyone who was there today.
